Beneath the Storms (A Poem) by Sritapa Mahanty

You break a heart, then smile and move on,

Yet the weight of shattered time lingers long.

This fire within, a burning desire,

It brought us together, lifted us higher.

Don’t be so stubborn, don’t turn away,

Let your thoughts flow; don’t let them decay.

But look within, take a glance inside,

You are still trapped in a past you hide.

Running from change, yet preaching the new,

Perhaps it’s time you listened too.

This hardened mask you wear with pride,

I know the softness you try to hide.

You act as though you feel no pain,

As if the world is cruel and love is in vain.

But I am not one to turn away,

I can feel the words you never say.

Yes, mistakes were made, things left unsaid,

But with each passing day, I understand you instead.

Give me a chance to break through your walls,

To catch your heart when it stumbles and falls.

Oh, dear, hold my trust,

I will walk with you through storms and dust.

Oh, dear, have faith in me,

You will find a love that’s wild and free.

I searched for you through endless time,

Now that you’re here, is love a crime?

Why must I be the one who pays,

Wandering lost in love’s cruel maze?

Just one step, walk beside me,

Truth will shine if you let it be.

One touch of love, and you will feel,

I have healed your pain and set you free.

The wounds you hide, I will make whole,

I will chase the winter from your soul.

For every sorrow, I will bring you light,

In every shadow, I will stand and fight.

Open your heart, don’t be afraid,

Even in darkness, love won’t fade.

I am here, through

storm or sun,

With every step, we walk as one.
