Writers' Kalam Literary Bulletin Calls for Submissions in Memory of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Goethe is remembered in classrooms of comparative literature as one of the precursors of "world literature". A visionary writer who saw beyond the words the human condition and the impact of language, George's influence is unwavering. Goethe's extensive and prolific literary legacy has 21st century relevance.
In commemoration of the legendary German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Writers' Kalam Literary Bulletin proudly announces a special call for submissions dedicated to his literary legacy. This edition will be part of our exclusive Writers' Kalam Goethe Series, marking Goethe’s death anniversary on March 22. As part of this series, we invite writers, poets, and artists to reflect on the themes that defined his work and philosophy.
Theme: "In the Spirit of Goethe: Exploring Humanity, Nature, and the Soul"
Writers are encouraged to explore themes inspired by Goethe’s remarkable body of work, including but not limited to:
- The Power of Self-Discovery – Inspired by Faust and Goethe’s reflections on the inner journey.
- Love, Loss, and the Human Condition – Echoing Goethe’s heartfelt poetry and dramatic narratives.
- Nature and Romanticism – Reflecting Goethe’s deep reverence for the natural world.
- The Conflict Between Duty and Desire – A prominent tension in Goethe’s storytelling.
- Philosophical Reflections on Art and Life – Inspired by Goethe’s insights into creativity, identity, and personal growth.
Submission Guidelines:
Accepted formats include poetry, essays, short fiction, and visual art that resonate with Goethe’s themes.Submissions must be original and unpublished.
